Rafal Budzinski

Research Associate

Rafal Budzinski is an Environmental, Social and Governance Researcher at PIRC (Pensions Investment Research Consultants), an independent research and advisory consultancy providing professional services to institutional investors on Corporate Governance and SRI.

Rafal specialises in US and UK markets, Corporate Governance and Executive Remuneration. He is also involved in the development of Corporate Governance policies and stakeholder engagement. During secondment to the London Authority Pension Fund Forum to conduct in-depth research and analysis, he participated in investment engagement (Global Focus List). During his studies, he worked in the administration of the Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and also the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development as a contractor.

Rafal holds a BA in International Relation from Centre for Europe, University of Warsaw and scored a top mark for his dissertation on British politics towards European integration. He also holds an MSc in European Policy and Management from Birkbeck College, University of London, where he was awarded a distinction for final thesis on Varieties of Capitalism and Corporate Governance in the context of Polish Companies.Rafal's main interest is in the redevelopment of the classic VoC model to account for the unique character of the CEE countries, in particular Poland. Other research topics include: a single European model of Corporate Governance; long-termism vs. profitability and; the State as responsible investor.
