Ioanna Boulouta

Research Associate

Ioanna Boulouta is a Lecturer in Management at Birkbeck College-University of London.  Prior to joining Birkbeck, she has held Research and Teaching Assistantship positions at the University of Cambridge, the London School of Economics, the London Business School, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Her research focuses on the area of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). In particular she is interested in:

  • The link between board gender diversity and Corporate Social Performance
  • The role of the ethics of care and empathy in shaping CSR strategy
  • Stereotypes and diversity at the board of directors
  • The link between CSR and national competitiveness

She has also participated in large, collaborative, European funded projects such as the project ‘Social Entrepreneurs as Lead Users for Service Innovation’ or ‘Scrutinizing the Impact of Carbon Capture and Storage Communication on the General and Local Public’.

She has work experience in both academia and industry in 7 countries around the world (UK, USA, Greece, Netherlands, Belgium, India, and Nepal) as a project manager, communications design engineer and researcher.

She holds a PhD in Management from the University of Cambridge, an MPhil in Technology Policy from the University of Cambridge and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BEng in Electronic Engineering from the University of Kent.
